Whāingaroa Wharf Projects
In 2019, Waikato District Council and the Raglan Community Board received funding from Provincial Growth Fund (PGF) for the redevelopment of the Whāingaroa wharf and wider harbour.
This funding has been allocated to four exciting projects which are underway to transform the wharf and wider harbour now and in the future.
- Whāingaroa Wharf Walkways project- The construction of an eastern and western walkway at the wharf to improve pedestrian access for all ages and abilities. Includes other amenity and safety improvements such as a new balustrade around sections of the wharf, improved lighting, tree planting, seating and storytelling features such as signage and integrated artwork.
- The Pontoon Design and Build- A new pontoon at the eastern side of the wharf.
- The Whāingaroa Wharf Structural Repair project- Repairs to the existing wharf.
- Whāingaroa Harbour Strategy- A plan for the future of the Whāingaroa Harbour to better-connect Whāingaora and the surrounding communities.
