A 2016 review of the Waikato District Council Cemeteries Bylaw restricted the pre-purchasing of plots to only when a relative was to be buried. We received feedback from you regarding this and proposed to amending clause 6.2 of the bylaw so plots can be pre-purchased at any time up to a maximum of two plots.
Over 20 submissions were received during the consultation period and a report was presented to Council at their meeting on 7 October 2019 where the amendment to the Cemetery Bylaw was approved. This means plots can be pre-purchased at any time.
Consultation has now closed.
Council supported the proposal to allow burial plots to be pre-purchased at any time up to a maximum of two pots.
