We would like to hear your views on the proposed Trade Waste and Wastewater Bylaw. Council are proposing changes to better protect public wastewater infrastructure and provide clearer information on connections and accountability for damages caused.

A significant clause proposed is for mortuary waste to be separated from the public wastewater network as a prohibited waste and no longer discharged to the Waikato River, to align with tikanga Māori (customary practice/values) and te mana o te wai.

The statement of proposal highlights the key proposed changes. It can be found to the right of this page under the document library, along with a copy of the proposed Bylaw.

Submissions close on the 21st of November 2022.
