Pursuant to Section 54 of the
Reserves Act 1977, Waikato District Council are publicly notifying the intention to grant a ground lease to Friendship House Huntly Community Charitable Trust (Friendship House) on the Huntly West Domain for the location of
the Huntly West Community Hub.
Councillors have indicated support for the proposal by approving notifying the public of the proposal to grant a lease of reserve land in Huntly West Domain to Friendship House Huntly Community Charitable Trust (Infrastructure Committee 5 July 2023 resolution number INF2307/05).
The Act requires public notification of the
intention to grant the lease and a call for feedback to the proposal, so we would like to hear your thoughts.
The proposed lease area comprises approximately 560m² over Part Lot 9 DPS 316, as shown in the attached map (in the Document Library to the right). The lease will be for an initial term of 20 years plus one right of renewal for a further term of 14 years, 364 days. Rent shall be as provided for in Council’s Leasing of Reserve Land Policy.
Huntly West Hub is a community space, providing support to Huntly West residents through workshops, fruit and vegetable co-ops, drop-in sessions and advice and advocacy services. A new building will be located on the proposed site to serve as the hub.
