We are updating our Fees and Charges schedule
Waikato District Council conducted public consultation between 25 March and 26 April 2024 for the 2024/25 ‘Enhanced’ Annual Plan, which included proposed fees and charges. Following this, staff identified errors for some charges listed in the consultation material.
Due to this, and in order to be fully transparent, we are undertaking additional consultation on a selection of fees before considering updating these in our 2024/25 fees and charges schedule. The consultation on the selection of fees and charges will be open from 17 September to 11 October 2024.
The proposed changes are intended to ensure that service costs are accurately reflected, and impact specific fees related to:
- Land planning charges;
- Motorsport events taking place on district roads; and
- Roading usage charges.
Council remains focused on delivering value for ratepayers, while ensuring that users of services contribute fairly to the cost of those services.
Your participation in the consultation process is helpful in ensuring the fees and charges are fair and accurately reflect the cost of providing services.
We are also taking this opportunity to inform our community that Central Government has released updated charges for nation-wide parking infringements and towing fees. Most of these fees were set in 2004 and haven’t been changed since.
The new charges will take effect from 1 October 2024, and it’s important to note that these charges are not set by Council. You can find an outline of the new Fees we will be adding to our schedule in the Document Library to the right. You can also find more information on the Ministry of Transport website here.
